Kravis Center for Molecular Oncology). We seek a postdoctoral fellow in genetic epidemiology and computational genomics to join an NIH-funded research group focused on understanding the molecular underpinnings of inherited cancer susceptibility. The fellow will lead an array of analytical studies aimed at identifying functional/causal variants and risk genes at novel susceptibility loci for esophageal adenocarcinoma, a highly lethal cancer, and its precursor lesion Barrett’s esophagus. These studies will incorporate single-cell sequencing, quantitative trait locus mapping, statistical colocalization and enrichment testing, and functional bioinformatics. We are: The Molecular Diagnostics Service develops and performs numerous sophisticated clinical laboratory tests for the comprehensive molecular profiling of tumors. This helps clinicians define cancer diagnoses and make treatment decisions, including enrollment in clinical trials. The Extraction laboratory, within the Molecular Diagnostics Service, is a cutting-edge clinical laboratory with access to the most advanced robotic and automated instruments. Extraction is the foundation for downstream testing, including two of our premier tests: MSK-IMPACT and MSK-ACCESS. MSK-IMPACT has been authorized by the US Food & Drug Administration as a clinical test and has been used to profile tumor and normal DNA samples from more than 40,000 MSK cases as part of their clinical care. “Liquid biopsy” applications such as MSK-ACCESS examine circulating cell-free DNA to enable genomic characterization of cancers where genomic tissue is not available and permits longitudinal monitoring of disease burden. We are seeking an outstanding technologist to join our Extraction team. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a Digital Scanning Technician!You Will:- Prepare pathology glass slides for digital scanning.- Log incoming glass slides arriving to the Digital Scanning Area into the laboratory information system.- Help with the maintenance of quality control for glass slides submitted to ensure good image quality.- Assist in the documentation of quality issues and scans completed.- Enters patient data and specimen data information into the information system to assign the specimen to the accurate patient.- Ensures appropriate information (i.e. part type, specimen, outside accession number, number of slides submitted, outside procedure date) is collected on the slide.- Scans the barcode to confirm it works and transparent for scanning.- Relabels slides as needed confirming the accurate label information is gained.- Places label with accession number on the slide, ensuring information on label is transparent and accurate and placed where appropriate to ensure the scanner camera can read and scan the label information.- Identifies and document QA deficiencies, if any. We are currently focusing on the role of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in the pathogenesis of desmoid-type fibromatosis using in vitro and in vivo models of the disease. Projects will include basic and translational studies focused on transcriptome analysis, signaling transduction, and next-generation sequencing as well as murine studies.
