Refer to the Department of Medicine webpage for additional information about the department and its services. The Integrative Medicine Service in the Division of Subspecialty Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a full-time Academic Clinician at the Instructor level or higher focused on patient care, education and research at our Manhattan location. The successful candidate will practice integrative medicine consultation within the setting of a major cancer center with a special emphasis on patient-centered and evidence-based life-style modification (e.g. exercise, nutrition, sleep and stress management), mind-body medicine (e.g. massage, acupuncture, meditation, yoga, and music therapy), herbal and supplement consultation. Our goal is to empower people with cancer to become an active participant throughout the cancer care journey (prevention, treatment, survivorship, or palliative care). While the main role of the faculty is to provide high quality clinical care, the faculty will contribute to education and collaborative research.  Prior experience in integrative medicine/oncology is preferred but not required. Since the founding in 1999, the Integrative Medicine Service leads at the forefront of creating clinical innovation and practice-changing research that drives the growth of the field of integrative oncology. The service has five faculty and two advanced practice providers along with many integrative health providers (e.g. pharmacist, acupuncturists, massage therapists, mind-body instructors, and fitness specialists).  Through leading numerous first-in-class, as well as large, clinical trials the service builds the evidence base for integrative medicine therapies (e.g. acupuncture, massage, music therapy, exercise) for improving physical and emotional symptoms (e.g. pain, insomnia, fatigue, hot flashes, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, cognitive function) in people affected by cancer. The MSKCC CryoEM Facility supports MSK laboratories that use cryoelectron microscopy as a structural biology tool.  The facility hosts two Krios TEM microscopes for single particle cryoEM data collection as well as ancillary equipment for sample preparation.  The second Krios, which has just come online, is of the latest G4 generation and is equipped with a Selectris X energy filter and Falcon 4i detector.  This new microscope will support developments in single particle analysis and enable future cryoEM technologies such as cryo-electron tomography (cryoET) and microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED).  Facility staff also coordinates access for MSK laboratories to the New York Structural Biology Center’s cryoEM resources (multiple microscopes, sample preparation technologies, training opportunities, etc.).  The facility hosts software tools for data processing, structure refinement, and modeling, and provides training and technical assistance to users of in-house equipment and remote facilities. We seek a detail-oriented scientist with experience in biology, biochemistry, and/or electron microscopy to join our expanding CryoEM Facility.  The CryoEM Research Assistant will assist the facility manager to perform research activities central to a successful cryoEM imaging operation, including TEM grid preparation, microscope loading, and providing support to facility users.  You will be part of a scientifically rich and stimulating, multidisciplinary environment and are therefore expected to have a strong research background, the ability to multitask, and be an excellent team player.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.  You are:- An experienced biologist/microscopist with a basic understanding of transmission electron microscopy (TEM)- Adept at tasks requiring fine motor skills- An effective communicator and eager to work collaboratively in a team, as well as independently- Flexible and able to manage time efficiently, complete tasks on time, and adapt to unscheduled requests- Focused, highly motivated, and well-organized You will:- Be involved in day-to-day facility operations, including sample preparation, microscope data collection, and equipment maintenance- Train facility users- Consult and collaborate with scientists on experimental design, data processing, and data analysis- Perform some administrative tasks You have:- A strong background in computation (i.e., Linux/UNIX environment); experience in cryoEM image acquisition/data processing/analysis programs (e.g., SerialEM, EPU) preferred Pay Range $66,500.00-$103,100.00 Please click to learn more about MSK’s compensation philosophy.
