The Proteomics Core at Sloan Kettering Institute (SKI) is seeking to hire an expert in mass spectrometry-based proteomics. We are currently looking for two highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to join the liquid biopsy and cancer genomics programs (led by Dr Pedram Razavi) within the MSK Biomarker Development Program (BDP). The MSK BDP is a dedicated program focused on development and utilization of tumor tissue and circulating biomarkers to enable precision oncology and inform therapeutic decisions. Research in the Razavi group focuses on integration of large-scale tissue and circulating genomics with clinicopathologic data to study tumor evolution under therapeutic pressure in breast cancer, discover novel biomarkers of response or resistance to therapies in breast cancer and develop tools for early detection and prediction of outcomes in breast cancer. Fellows will join a multidisciplinary group of bioinformaticians, translational medical oncologists, molecular biologists, pathologists and clinical researchers focusing on two main studies: 1) analysis of the largest effort to date in breast cancer focusing on comprehensive genomic profiling of paired pre- and post-treatment tumor tissue to decipher the mechanisms of resistance to adjuvant therapies in breast cancer and develop prediction models of outcomes in breast cancer; and 2) development of novel approaches for the analysis of cell free DNA (cfDNA) to assess cfDNA utility in a wide array of practical clinical applications such tumor genomic profiling, monitoring disease evolution and heterogeneity, discovery of novel mechanisms of therapy resistance, detection of minimal residual and micrometastatic disease, and early- detection of disease. Fellows will apply analytic methods on a combination of newly generated and big data to address high clinical impact questions to advance the ability to treat cancer patients. The van den Brink lab is looking for a highly motivated post-doc to work on a project involving novel T cell immunotherapies for multiple myeloma. Our lab focuses on a variety of research topics related to cancer immunotherapy, including hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, graft-versus-host disease, effects of the microbiota on transplant outcomes, immune reconstitution/thymic rejuvenation strategies, and CAR T cell therapy for various malignancies. The CAR T cell group of the van den Brink lab designs novel CAR T cells targeting hematologic malignancies with the goal of improving T cell activity while reducing toxicities. We study CAR T cell activity in syngeneic mouse models and are currently developing xenograft mouse models. The lab focuses on investigating how the gut microbiome interacts with the host immune system in the context of cancer immunotherapy and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation. This includes investigations in mouse models, with cultivated commensal organisms, and human biospecimens. As well, we have a focus on pre-clinical investigation of novel therapeutic approaches that have potential for translation into the clinic. Our group is highly collaborative, both within MSK and outside. The laboratory seeks to develop a diverse and multi-disciplinary team of students, postdocs, and research technicians. Projects include:- Investigation of mechanisms by which Enterococci exacerbate graft-vs-host diseases.- Understanding how environmental exposures (e.g. diet, antibiotics) mediate or mitigate microbiome injury in patients receiving cancer therapy or mouse models thereof.- Identifying microbiome-derived metabolites that modulate host immunity.See http://www.peledlab.org for more info.
