An opening is now available for a postdoctoral researcher in the department of medical physics for individuals interested in combining artificial intelligence in brachytherapy. The two-year project will focus on the development of advanced deep learning and machine learning image processing methods to automatically segment targets on medical images. Opportunities to work on related problems involving natural language processing in patient charts and developing clinical-release software is also possible, time permitting. This is an excellent opportunity for a researcher with a PhD in biomedical engineering, medical physics and computer science who are interested in investigating state-of-the-art artificial intelligence to solve immediate clinical problems, and who want to gain firsthand research and development experience from cancer treatment frontline and to pursue career in technology and healthcare industry in future. The Van den Brink Lab studies clinically relevant complications in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and aims to develop novel therapeutic strategies to improve patient outcomes. We are looking for a Lab Manager to join our team! This will include supervising and performing technical and administrative tasks. We have an opening for hybrid research and imaging physics residency position in the Department of Medical Physics, with a flexible start date for the right candidate. This is a hybrid residency program in which a two-year grant-funded research project is followed by a two-year clinical residency in medical imaging physics. For those who enter the 4-year program without CAMPEP credentials, you will be enrolled in a CAMPEP Certificate program with full tuition support from the department. You will be required to complete the Certificate program during the first two years of the program before entering clinical training. Research for this position will be conducted under Dr. Hao Zhang, PhD, DABR on a project titled “Deep learning enabled fast gated CBCT imaging for lung SBRT.” You will be responsible for algorithm development, experimental validations, and preparation of manuscripts for publication. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the first-in-human clinical trial and translation of this imaging technique to the clinic.   The Department of Medical Physics consists of over eighty faculty physicists and computer scientists plus support staff working on various physical problems related to diagnosis and therapy for cancer, in partnership with radiologists, radiation oncologists, and other medical professionals. Medical Physicists in the diagnostic imaging physics track are actively engaged in several research programs that include molecular, MR and CT imaging as well as the new radionuclide therapies called theranostics. Examples include advanced MR acquisition techniques, motion correction, MR fingerprinting, artificial intelligence, and deep learning for image reconstruction in all imaging modalities. MSK is a World leader in imaging and theranostic research and supports one of the largest pre-clinical small animal core facilities in the United States that includes MR, PET, SPECT, CT, ultrasound imaging equipment that provides a conduit for the translation of experimental techniques into clinical trials. Additional highlights include grant-funded research in quantitative MRI, hypoxia imaging, imaging drug delivery, and radionuclide dosimetry. We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Research Technician or Research Assistant in the lab of Dr. Christine Mayr at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/Sloan Kettering Institute in New York City. The Mayr lab studies how mRNAs, and specifically 3′UTRs, control protein functions. Our lab is collaborative, friendly, and our members come from diverse research backgrounds. Our approach is multidisciplinary and includes methodology and techniques from RNA and chemical biology, biochemistry, genome engineering, molecular biophysics, and computation. We currently study how RNA in membraneless organelles changes the conformation of disordered proteins to control assembly of protein complexes which in turn regulate protein functions. One of our goals is to use RNA to control protein function. The Rizzuto Laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work in our immunology lab in the Human Oncology & Pathogenesis Program and Department of Pathology & Laboratory medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.   The Rizzuto laboratory studies mechanisms of immune tolerance. We specifically investigate a long-standing question in immunology: what prevents maternal immune rejection of the placenta and fetus? Our research is focused on discovering the cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie maternal immune tolerance of fetal and placental proteins. Like the placenta, tumor cells also escape immune rejection despite tumor cell expression of altered-self proteins. The Center for Epigenetics Research is seeking a highly motivated and successful individual with a background in epigenetics and molecular biology. As a Senior Research Scientist within the Center for Epigenetics Research (https://www.mskcc.org/research-programs/epigenetics-research), for leading the technology development effort of the Innovation Laboratory. The core mission of this group is to develop new experimental methodologies in epigenetics research and implement these and existing technologies. The group will work in close collaboration with clinicians and scientists at MSK, as well the computational biology and genome analysis group in the Center for Epigenetics research. This position involves the oversight and training of laboratory staff at the M.S. and Ph.D. levels and requires the ability to define and articulate new research directions and experimental approaches. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations in the laboratory, this role requires a broad base of technical knowledge regarding existing methods in epigenetics research as well as the ability to creatively invent and customize new ones.  The Pertsinidis lab in the Structural Biology Program of the Sloan Kettering Institute at MSKCC has immediate openings for Postdoctoral positions. A major focus in our lab is developing cutting-edge single-molecule detection and superresolutionoptical imaging techniques. We further apply the tools we develop to visualize andunderstand some of the most fundamental biological processes that power cellular life. Forexample, our lab has developed modulation interferometry, a single-molecule localization-basedsuper-resolution technique with ~1-2 nm 3D precision and target-locking 3D nanoscopy, atechnique that achieved single-molecule detection in high background, crowded intracellularenvironments. These tools have enabled some of the highest resolution single-molecule studiesto date, providing new biological insights that could not be obtained before (e.g. Wang et al. Cell2016; Li et al., Cell 2019). Successful applicants will become an important member of our vibrant, interdisciplinary team ofphysical and biological scientists. We now develop the next-generation of low-background, noninvasiveand photon-efficient techniques - to further enhance our ability to visualize biologicalprocesses in live cells with single-molecule sensitivity, (sub)-millisecond temporal and (sub)-nanometer 3D spatial resolution. We also further push the limits of extracting high-resolutioninformation from weak signals in optically inhomogeneous, thick, multi-cellular environments,such as tissue explants, 3D organoids and the developing embryo. Finally, we develop newsingle-molecule imaging and machine learning technologies for in situ structuralbiology, to enable for the first time high-resolution structural studies inside cells. Requirements:• Desire to tackle outstanding challenges in optics, microscopy and/or single-moleculebiology• Ph.D. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Optics, Optical Engineering, Biophysics or arelevant scientific or engineering field.• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Experience with single-molecule detection instrumentation and high/super-resolution opticalimaging (e.g. STED/RESOLFT, 4Pi, MINFLUX, SIM, LLS/SPIM approaches, Adaptive Optics,etc.), as well as cryogenic and UHV technologies is preferred but not required.
