Exciting Opportunity at MSK: AP/NP/MGP- Board Certified Pathologist

 

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) seeks an outstanding neuropathologist with additional expertise in molecular diagnostics at the level of Assistant, Associate or Attending Pathologist. MSK is one of the world’s premier cancer centers, committed to exceptional patient care and leading-edge research.

MSK has been a leader in advancing the role of molecular analyses in brain tumor diagnosis and management. This has built upon a storied legacy of contributions to the field of neuropathology, including establishing the current approach to tumor taxonomy and the description of numerous novel entities and important biomarkers. The Neuropathology (NP) subspecialty service receives pathologic samples from patients with brain tumors seeking the state-of-the-art neurosurgical, radiation, and oncologic treatments. The NP team frequently collaborates with MSK doctors and scientists to support cutting edge research and clinical trials.

 

 

Role Overview

The Molecular Diagnostics Service (MDS) has been a pioneer among academic molecular diagnostic laboratories in the development and clinical implementation of a broad range of cancer-related somatic and germline genetic testing. The MDS laboratories process a high volume of samples (over 50,000 samples/year) and offers a comprehensive and growing testing menu, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) of tissue and cell-free DNA, RNA-sequencing, and methylation profiling, among others.The successful candidate will join a driven and collegial team of faculty in NP and MDS who perform exceptional clinical care, educate fellows and colleagues, and maintain active programs of original and collaborative research.

 

Key Requirements

  • MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent and must be board-certified in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology
  • Board-eligible in Molecular Genetic Pathology, as well as being eligible for medical licensure in New York and New Jersey.
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain a Certificate of Qualification from the New York State Department of Health in Oncology – Molecular.
  • Clinical expertise in adult and pediatric surgical neuropathology and molecular neuropathology is required.
  • Special consideration will be given to applicants with significant experience in somatic molecular diagnostics across all types of human cancer specimens and validation of emerging  molecular diagnostic assays.
  • Experience in clinical bioinformatics as well as autopsy neuropathology is also desirable.

 

Pay Range: 250,000 - 450,000
