Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technologist IV- Automation Specialist to join our HemePath Service.

Role Overview:

  • Assist with instrument maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Help maintain commonly used equipment and resolve minor equipment problems; assures equipment and instruments meet performance standards.
  • Assure the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the laboratory’s Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain complete documentation for assay tracking and results for review/reporting.
  • Review all test requests thoroughly for errors, omissions, clarity, and potential problems.
  • Notify supervisor of discrepancies and record corrective action taken; Functions as supervisor in supervisor's absence. 
  • Reviews workload and workflow and makes recommendations on procedures to improve efficiency and to respond to changes. 
  • Updates procedures when appropriate and assists in writing new technical procedures. Makes recommendations for updating procedure manuals.
  • Assists supervisor to develop, evaluate, modify, and implement new procedures and new products.
  • Participates in training/assessing competency of laboratory technologists. Provides feedback on staff for performance appraisals.
  • Design, develop, and implement automated solutions for processing and storage of clinical samples
  • Provide automation related technical expertise in the evaluation of new equipment, software, and automated solutions to assist with purchasing related decisions
  • Participate as a member of departmental and institutional quality and regulatory focused committees.
  • Create automation protocols on current laboratory equipment to meet the needs of the laboratories and scale up throughput
  • Collaborate with members of the Bioinformatics teams to integrate automated laboratory solutions into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)/MPath
  • Recommend new equipment/supplies to best meet demands of the laboratories; serve as a liaison with various vendors for automation equipment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Medical Technology, Biology, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences) required, and NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License Required
  • Extensive Flow Cytometry experience
    • Bachelor's Degree 7- 10 years required
    • Master's Degree 7- 10 years preferred

Hours:

  • Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
  • Location: 327 East 64th Street

Pay Range: $56.77-$90.83
