Exciting Opportunity at MSK: The Research Animal Resource Center’s Education and Quality Assurance department is looking for a talented Training and QA Specialist to join their team! We are looking for someone who can handle the responsibility of compliance inspections as well as leading all aspects of implementation of the hazardous material program.
Role Overview:
o Serve as an independent and objective viewpoint to promote a culture of compliance in a manner consistent with institutional policies, goals, and objectives.
o Conduct regularly scheduled quality assurance reviews of the animal care program as well as research laboratories where animals are used.
o Prepare reports to the IACUC on matters of non-compliance and work to resolve resolutions.
o Work in partnership with other RARC departments and the research teams to communicate policies and SOPs and provide education on standard processes.
o Develop, schedule and implement training and facility orientation sessions.
o Provide hands-on training to research staff on rodent handling and surgical procedures.
o Assess technical skills and provide expertise in rodent technical procedures.
o Assist in the development of RARC standard operating procedures pertaining to compliance and training.
Key Qualifications:
o 4-7 years of experience in research support, compliance or training related to animal models.
o Veterinary Technician education, bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
o Certification at the AALAS Laboratory Animal Technologist (LAT) level.
o Proven experience in rodent technical procedures and surgical techniques.
o A high level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
o Eager to collaborate, but feels equally comfortable with independent work.
Core Skills:
o Experience with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) administration preferred but not required.
o Basic knowledge of occupational health requirements.
o Experience with the safety requirements needed for hazard agents preferred.
