Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Join the MSK team as a Giving Officer on our Leadership Annual Giving (LAG) Team in the Development Office! We're looking for a motivated, organized person to connect with and support MSK’s annual donors giving between $1,000 and $10,000, while also finding new opportunities for larger gifts. You’ll report to the Associate Director of LAG and work closely with other Giving Officers and a Project Manager to make a real impact.

 

LAG is part of the Leadership Giving team, which works with over 20,000 donors who provide annual support ranging from $1,000 to $250,000 gifts through outright giving, fundraising and event participation. These gifts support MSK’s mission to end cancer for life and contribute to MSK’s Campaign: Leading Science, Changing Lives. Launched in 2024, the campaign’s goal is to raise $6 billion dollars by 2030.

 

Role Overview:

  • Proactively qualify, steward, cultivate, solicit, and re-engage mid-level annual donors, peer-to-peer fundraisers and prospects on a 1:1 basis through phone, emails, mail, meetings and events.
  • Directly respond to donation and other (research questions, tax acknowledgment requests, etc.) inquiries received by phone, web, and/or written correspondence.
  • Meet annual outreach goals that align with LAG team goals for revenue and volume.
  • Write and edit solicitation and stewardship materials (phone scripts, email and mail templates).
  • Recommend prospects or donors for portfolio placement on Major Gifts, Principal Gifts, Leadership Giving or Gift Planning.
  • Contribute to team-based projects and initiatives, including script writing, email merges and collaboration with other Development teams.
  • Lead a small portfolio of donors capable of giving $1,000 - $25,000 annually.
  • Maintain overall database integrity specific to accuracy of donor demographics (i.e., names, addresses, contact information) and engagement (i.e., relationships, event attendance, etc.) including directly handling correction of information in a timely fashion.
  • Partner with LAG Project Manager to create call/email lists, report on outreach efforts, and clean up data.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Project Manager, Associate Director, or Director.
  • Attend webinars, trainings and networking events to build fundraising skills.
  • Attend a minimum of two in-office professional development and team building days throughout the year. Please note that this is a hybrid role with the opportunity to work onsite.

Key Qualifications:

  • At least 1-2 years of fundraising or other highly relevant experience where strong communication, customer service, organization, advocacy, planning, and multi-tasking skills were necessary.
  • Familiarity with annual giving strategies, direct mail/digital donor engagement, fundraising events a plus.
  • Ability to absorb and share new information quickly, pivot in conversation and effectively utilize resources at your disposal.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, both with internal colleagues and external partners.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud CRM and Luminate Online a plus.
