Exciting Career Opportunities at MSK: Hiring Multiple Openings for Patient Financial Services (PFS) Specialists – Authorization + Registration

Are you passionate about assisting patients as they navigate their financial responsibilities during treatment? Join the MSK Patient Financial Services (PFS) Department and become part of a team that helps ensure access to care while supporting patients with insurance and registration needs.

 

Role Overviews:

 

Patient Authorization Specialist:

  • Lead the insurance authorization process for services requested by clinical staff, including chemotherapy, radiology, physical therapy, and drug therapy.
  • Collaborate with insurance carriers to ensure timely submission of necessary documentation for payment.
  • Communicate updates and changes in insurance reimbursement practices with clinical teams.
  • Provide ongoing communication during the authorization process to inform clinical staff of outcomes.
  • Counsel patients about their insurance coverage and available payment options.

Patient Registration Specialist:

  • Contact patients prior to appointments to collect demographic and financial information.
  • Discuss financial options and provide information on hospital billing procedures.
  • Advise patients on their financial responsibilities and available options.

Key Qualifications:

  • 1-3+ years of experience working in patient finance / healthcare setting with patients on financial or insurance related items
  • Epic experience required
  • Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment in decision-making.

Core Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication, able to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving circumstances and work independently.
  • Patient-centric approach and ability to handle difficult interactions.

Additional Information:

  • Location: Hybrid flexibility, with travel to our NYC sites as needed.
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, flexible between 7:30 AM and 7 PM, *note occasional Saturday rotation for Registration team members.
  • Pay Range: $25.65 - $38.42 Hourly
  • Reporting to: Supervisor, Patient Financial Services

Preparing for Epic Implementation
Here is our hiring and onboarding timeline so you can prepare for key dates:

  • 10/7 - 10/28: Interviews
  • 10/28: Last day for offers to be accepted
  • 10/28 - 11/22: Onboarding clearance
  • 11/25: Start date for all new PFS hires
