Job Description

We are seeking a Cyclotron Engineer to provide hands-on assistance on problems relevant to the overall operation and maintenance of the cyclotron and lab equipment within the Radiochemistry and Molecular Imaging Probes Core (RMIP Core).

 

Role Overview:

  • Serve as  main operator for the MSKCC cyclotron. Assist with modifications to the electrical operation and maintenance of the PETtrace 880 Cyclotron.
  • Work with Fastlab and Trasis synthesizers to produce radiopharmaceuticals. Test the automation of novel radiopharmaceuticals. Help with the development of new automation sequences.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all the lab equipment in the department, including: hotcells, telemanipulators, HPLC, TLC, GC, PTS, etc.
  • Schedule the preventative maintenance with external vendors.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to facilitate the installation of new lab equipment.
  • Test new lab equipment and modify the design
  • Organize and maintain the engineering spaces, including: cyclotron room, cyclotron vault, and technical spaces.
  • Maintain an inventory of electrical space parts for the cyclotron.

Key Qualifications:

  • Assist in the testing of new chemistry automation sequences. Operate Fastlab and Trasis chemical synthesizers.
  • Serve as a resident electrical engineer for cyclotron. Operate cyclotron and targetry systems as necessary for the production of cyclotron radionuclides in support of the RMIP Core.

Core Skills:

  • 4-7 years of experience in cyclotron operation.
  • Experience with computer interfacing preferred

 

Additional Information: 

 

  • Location: 1275 York Ave (Main Campus)
  • Monday- Friday, 10AM to 6PM might be required to stay late or come in early for projects. Must be flexible

 

Pay Range: $45.54-$72.93
