Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Postdoctoral Research FellowRizzuto Laboratory 

The Rizzuto laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and successful individual with a strong interest in advancing our understanding of immune tolerance. Our lab studies a longstanding question in immunology, namely, what prevents maternal immune rejection of the conceptus (placenta and fetus)? Our focus on mechanisms of tolerance and immunity in the pregnant host is unique and fill a major gap in basic immunology. Our work is relevant to maternal-fetal health, autoimmunity, transplant, and cancer immunology.

Role overview:

The ideal candidate will have a background in immunology, glycobiology, and/or reproductive biology and a strong interest in working with in vivo mouse models and using cutting-edge tools to interrogate antigen-specific B and T cell responses. The ideal candidate will additionally be motivated to work with a kind, caring group of diverse scientists dedicated to the topic of pregnancy immunology. We are equally dedicated to cultivating a supportive scientific environment where everyone thrives and excels

Projects Include

  • Investigating mechanisms of B and T cell tolerance to placental and fetal antigen 
  • Discovering immune evasion strategies of placental trophoblasts (neoplastic and non-neoplastic) 
  • Evaluating how immune responses to foreign antigen are modulated across gestation and postpartum 

Key qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in immunology, glycobiology, and/or reproductive biology. 
  • Strong interest in studying tolerance and immunity through the lens of pregnancy  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Collaborative skills and the ability to work well with colleagues and collaborators  
  • Ability to perform self-directed and guided research
