In compliance with applicable State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.  Requests for medical exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work.


*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.



Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster two months after completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19.  Because vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, MSK continues to strongly urge all staff to get a COVID-19 booster as soon as they become eligible to maintain their protective immunity for a longer period.

Job Description

Do you have a solid background in bioinformatics and/or computational biology with a desire to collaborate with the wet-bench investigators in the laboratory? We need you! The laboratory of Dr. Jonathan Peled at MSKCC is searching for an outstanding computational scientist with a strong curiosity about developing and applying bioinformatic/quantitative methods to problems in microbiome problems in immunology and cancer medicine. If you have strong statistical and programming skills, an interest in immunology and cancer, enjoy working with an interdisciplinary team, and bring intellectual and analytical rigor to projects, this is the perfect role for you


You will:

  • Work on the development of new and utilize existing software and database systems to analyze next-generation sequence data including primarily microbiota metagenomics, but also some T cell receptor repertoire sequencing, and RNA-seq
  • Work directly with members of the research group to develop bioinformatics scripts, analyze data, prepare figures of multifaceted datasets, and train lab members in the basic use of computational and bioinformatics tools
  • Attend seminars, lectures, and training courses as needed to learn new computational biology skills to remain up to date with the bioinformatics field

You Have:

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, biological science, mathematics, physics, computer science, bioinformatics, or related field with a strong quantitative background.
  • Proven programming skills and familiarity with next-generation sequence data and analysis tools.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively. and you are highly motivated with strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency with R (or alternatives such as Python, and shell scripting,)
