In compliance with applicable State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.  Requests for medical exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work.


*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.



Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster two months after completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19.  Because vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, MSK continues to strongly urge all staff to get a COVID-19 booster as soon as they become eligible to maintain their protective immunity for a longer period.

Job Description

We are recruiting for an Assistant Manager. In this role, you will report to a Manager or Associate Director and have oversight for large and complex physician practices and offices. You will work collaboratively with physicians to implement the vision of the Service Chief and Administrative Leadership and carry out the daily operations of clinical and/or office practices. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for the management of front line administrative staff and ensure the most professional, efficient and appropriate management of academic practices in the department. The Assistant Manager will encourage staff development, continuous improvement, and the highest quality service for our patients.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting, orientation, training, disciplinary action and staff evaluation.
  • Prioritization of workflows to meet the needs of the department and ensure efficient and financially sound operations.
  • Managing allocation and use of resources, partnering with clinical administrative units (such as Patient Financial Services) to execute objective and performance improvement of MD practices and enhancing the patient experience.
  • Actively identifying, analyzing and recommending improvements to current processes and fostering innovation.
  • Analyzing and communicating information and data necessary for fulfilling department needs and overseeing physician practice activity; making recommendations regarding departmental and practice operations based on analysis of information.
  • Monitoring practice activity metrics and conducting regular reporting.
  • Performing day to day financial tasks, as required, and abiding by existing policies and procedures.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, applicants with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Non-MSK Employees: Supervisory experience (15-25 direct reports or more) strongly preferred.
  • MSK Employees: At least one year in a Team Lead/equivalent or higher role strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, both written and verbal.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
