    Job Description

    Our team is looking for a talented Media Strategist whose job will be to position MSK as a leader in cancer research and patient care by creating and executing strategies to pursue national and local media relations activities that highlight MSK's experts, research, clinical expertise, value strengths and priorities. We contribute to the overarching MSK narrative to maximize impact in all mediums—digital, broadcast, social media and institutional communications platforms. 


    You will:

    • Vet and respond to a high volume of both quick turn daily and long term media requests by researching, providing appropriate information, strategic guidance and coordinating interviews.
    • Focus on developing strategies to amplify MSK positioning and content in the digital and new media space
    • Help to track MSK media citations, and updates data and media logs in our PR database.
    • Proactively seek out information about the Center’s activities and milestones that may be of interest to the media, public and further the MSK narrative.
    • Secure press coverage of newsworthy MSK activities and individuals with a special focus on breaking news and clinical and scientific publications.
    • Write effective, timely press materials, including press releases, media advisories and press statements.

    You are:

    • Detail oriented, very organized, and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously with enthusiasm and efficiency in a fast-paced environment
    • Innovative and constantly curious about cancer research and treatment advances and trends in healthcare and health policy.
    • Social media savvy with an understanding of best practices around integrated communications with earned, social and marketing strategies
    • Adept at creating partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives and goals
    • An outstanding communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and executing communication based on that understanding
    • Willing to act and eager to pursue new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm
    • Flexible in your approach and demeanor to align with the shifting demands of evolving and complex circumstances
    • A good decision-maker, with proven success at making timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward

    You have:                   

    • Bachelor’s Degree in preferably Journalism or Communications
    • 2-4 years of related experience in public affairs or healthcare field
    • Prior experience working in community outreach is a plus. #LI-POST
