Our state-of-the-art clinical laboratories provide sophisticated technology and automated equipment that allow our teams to get to answers faster and more efficiently, with a strong emphasis on applied and translational research.     It’s a very exciting time for our Laboratory Medicine Department as many of our teams have just moved into our new state-of-the-art laboratory medicine facility on East 64th Street.  Our new Laboratory Medicine Building maximizes operational efficiency, allowing our Laboratory Medicine team to provide test results more quickly and reduce the amount of blood needed from a patient to generate those results.

    We are seeking an Assistant Laboratory Manager to join our Microbiology Laboratory in our new Laboratory Medicine Building.  We have invested in cutting edge technology in this lab, including very advanced microbiology automation and next generation sequencing.  


    You will:

    • Assist the Laboratory Manager in the administrative and technical activities of the Microbiology service to ensure efficient and effective operations and quality of service.
    • Activities will include the organization of work, supervision of employees, staff development, expense control, quality management, process improvement and problem solving. 
    • Cover for the Laboratory Manager in their absence.

    You need:

    • A Bachelor’s degree (major: Biology, Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences preferred); Master’s degree preferred. If degree is in another discipline, all didactic and training requirement prerequisites must be complete as outlined by NYS and other accrediting agencies. 
    • 6+ years of Microbiology Laboratory experience (including supervisory experience).  Candidates who only have research experience will not be considered.  
    • A NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License, or ASCP Certification with eligibility to obtain a NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License. 
    • ASCP Certification preferred
