    Job Description

    Project Coordinator, RTM Systems

     

    Provide project coordination including monitoring budgets and schedules, ensuring quality deliverables and facilitating decision making with a focus on Electronic Research Administration (ERA) systems projects.  Manage and create the technical and operational requirements for multiple Research and Technology Management (RTM)  Systems  IT projects.  Manage costs and purchases of assigned projects.   Engage in business analysis and translate business processes into system requirements and configurations. 

     

    Responsibilities

    Under limited supervision, manages aspects of assigned projects including identifying deliverables and accurately estimating time and resources required for completion.

    Creates and monitors multiple concurrent project plans. Analyzes project risks and dependencies and escalates as appropriate. 

     

    In collaboration with the Manager and Director of RTM Systems, assigns resources to each project phase.

    Develops and implements methods and tools by which to organize, standardize, and manage project activities. Manages project work flows, Gantt charts, and timelines, ensuring deadlines and milestones are met. Responsible for following up on action items.

    Serves as intermediary for internal and external contacts for project inquiries.

    Obtains understanding and analyzes end users business requirements related to assigned projects.

    Works with various IT resources to recommend solutions that are consistent with MSKCC and RTM Systems strategic goals and best practices.

    Working with business owners and IT staff, writes detailed technical and operational requirement documents for IT projects. 

    Maintains or oversee project documentation by writing and/or collecting documentation from consultants and developers.

    Writes and/or edits various documents, reports and presentations (i.e., meeting materials, minutes, divisional updates, project summaries, and newsletter articles) for assembly and dissemination to the appropriate parties.

    Understands system reporting data structures and makes recommendations related to reporting needs. Advises users on the best way to obtain queries.  Assesses appropriate reporting tool (s) for User requests and generates specifications for developers.

    Monitors and controls costs related to assigned projects.  Conducts variance analyses between budget and actual spending for specific projects. Reviews project variances with the Manager and Director, RTM Systems and other project stakeholders as needed.

     

    Qualifications

     

    Minimum of 2- 4 years of Project Coordination experience.  Experience with IT systems projects preferred.

    PMP Coursework/ certification encouraged

    Bachelor’s Degree

    Excellent communication and writing skills

    Knowledge of Research Administration a plus
