    Job Description

    As a Senior Research Technician you will perform research activities in collaboration with internal/external personnel to complete science-based projects. You will normally receive detailed instructions while making observations, analyzing data and interpreting results according to laboratory procedures. The Senior Research Technician will provide support to all technical/research staff and postdocs.

     

    You are:

    • Someone with excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving flexibility and adaptability able to interface with Pancreas Center lab staff, clinical RSAs (CRCs), attendings from HPB Surgery and Medical Oncology, and PPBC
    • An effective communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and executing communications based on that understanding
    • Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments with a keen eye for detail
    • Action oriented and eager to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm

    You will: 

    • Administer the Pancreas Center biobank, collect biospecimen from the clinic and OR
    • Properly organize, catalog and track the samples and update the Pancreas Center database
    • Prepare laboratory equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays and other supplies as instructed for research experiments.
    • Be involved in work with culture and/or cell separation methods; electrophoretic separations: assays (e.g., RIA, TIA, ELISA); basic biology or other specialized science techniques depending on the lab.
    • Operate lab equipment such as centrifuges, pH meters, analytical balancers, scintillation counters, spectrophotometers, light microscopes and other equipment as instructed.
    • Respond to and completes tasks as instructed by the P.I. and staff associated with designated research projects by carrying out the requested activities.
    • Provide assistance with other on-going research for peers and research personnel in the laboratory by completing tasks related to the projects within the deadline specified.
    • Perform necessary analysis and calculations, records data and writes reports on research findings.
    • Respond to and produces reports comprising of the requested statistics for the study as requested by the laboratory head and members of the research team.
    • Purchase equipment and materials for the laboratory.
    • Assist Administrative Assistant in generation of purchase order information for supplies and equipment by gathering information for online purchase

    You need:

    •  Bachelor's in Biology or closely related major with 3+ years related experience or Master's with at least 1 year of related experience. #LI-POST
