    Job Description

    As a Senior Research Technician you will perform research activities in collaboration with internal/external personnel to complete science-based projects. You will normally receive detailed instructions while making observations, analyzing data and interpreting results according to laboratory procedures. The Senior Research Technician will provide support to all technical/research staff and postdocs.

     

    You are:

    • Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments with a keen eye for detail
    • Action oriented and eager to take on new opportunities and challenges with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm
    • An effective communicator, capable of presenting experimental data to lab members and collaborators. 

    You will: 

    • Assist investigators in the cloning of genes in a variety of viral vector plasmids.
    • Curate and maintain a database of plasmid DNAs.
    • Culture a number of cell lines and human primary hematopoietic cells, including T cells.
    • Participate in production, characterization and quality control testing of genetically modified cells.
    • Analyze gene expression by FACS, PCR and Q-PCR.
    • Operate lab equipment such as centrifuges, pH meters, analytical balancers, scintillation counters, spectrophotometers, light microscopes and other equipment as instructed.
    • Respond to and completes tasks as instructed by the P.I. and staff associated with designated research projects by carrying out the requested activities.
    • Provide assistance with other on-going research for peers and research personnel in the laboratory by completing tasks related to the projects within the deadline specified.
    • Perform necessary analysis and calculations, records data and writes reports on research findings.
    • Assist Administrative Assistant in generation of purchase order information for supplies and equipment by gathering information for online purchase

    You need:

    • Bachelor's in Molecular Biology or closely related major with 3+ years related experience or Master's with at least 1 year of related experience. #L
    • Skills in molecular techniques such as RNA/genomic DNA extraction, PCR, Western blotting, quantitative PCR, DNA cloning, DNA transfection, and viral vector production.
    • General cell cultures experience is required. Experience related to human hematopoietic cell culture and reporter line generation is preferred.
    • Comfortable with computer use, such as nucleic acid and protein sequence analysis, FlowJo (or related FACS software).
