    Job Description

    We are:

    The Compensation Department develops and supports programs and processes that enable MSK to remain competitive in the recruitment and retention of staff at all levels of the organization while maintaining institutional budgetary priorities. We are responsible for implementing MSK's compensation philosophy and programs for all employees, including establishing a competitive, equitable market-based salary structure, starting salaries as well as standards for promotional increases, bonus awards, and other salary adjustments; administering job descriptions; and designing and implementing annual base salary increases and award programs. We work closely with department administrators and managers and with our colleagues in Human Resources to ensure that our pay practices are fair, equitable, and lawful.

    You will:

    • Assist in the development, implementation and administration of MSK’s compensation programs.
    • Assist in the design and development of compensation metrics, reports and tools to inform compensation program decisions.
    • Conduct analysis and interpretation of trends in data to support proactive planning and forecasting.
    • Coordinate participation in a variety of compensation and salary planning surveys.
    • Analyze survey data for competitive status and make recommendations.
    • Provide guidance to external clients and HR staff about MSK’s compensation policies and procedures.
    • Assist in ensuring data accuracy across multiple HRIS and compensation platforms including but not limited to Workday, Reward, MSK Job Descriptions.
    • Participate in the development and completion of compensation processes and initiatives such as job evaluation, market pricing and annual compensation reviews.
    • Participate in various HR related ad-hoc reports, projects and activities based on business requests.

    You have:

    • Bachelor’s degree plus 2-4 years’ experience in Compensation, Human Resources or related area OR in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, minimum of 6 years relevant experience.
    • Analytical skills, including mathematical skills and ability to develop, interpret and present statistical data. Data visualization skills highly desirable.
    • Computer skills, including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and electronic office communications (e.g. email, scheduling/calendar applications). Advanced Excel skills preferred.
    • Information Management skills to communicate, explain, interpret, share, and/or present information.
    • Communication skills, including ability to draft and prepare presentations, reports and correspondence.
    • Administrative skills, including ability to plan and organize meetings, maintain files, and process data. 
    • Knowledge of various laws and regulations related to compensation such as Fair Labor Standards Act, Americans with Disabilities, Equal Pay Act.
