    Job Description

    The Department of Medical Physics is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to assist with designing, fabricating, and maintaining biomedial equipment systems. The department has a long history of innovation in radiation oncology (anticancer treatment with precision-controlled radiation beams), nuclear medicine (imaging with radioactive materials), and radiology. In this role, you will oversee and direct the operation of the Biomedical Mechanical Instrumentation Shop, including directing and supervising all activities relatied to the design, fabrication, production, and maintenance of mechanical instrumention performed within the department.


    You Will: 

    • Evaluate and recommend equipment, materials, and outside service vendors that may be necessary to carry out department’s needs for mechanical instrumentation.
    • Respond to complex service calls related to mechanical and biomedical devices requiring unique problem solving abilities. Resolves problems based on requester’s needs or manufacturer’s recommendations.
    • Collaborate with physicians, engineers, researchers, and other technical staff to discuss and plan new projects requiring the services of the mechanical instrumentation.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for various types of mechanical equipment as assigned.
    • Supervise the activities of personnel assigned to maitenance procedures and assign daily and long term work assignments to staff of engineers and technicians. 

    You Have:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required; Master's Degree preferred
    • 4-7 years of experience in manufacturing environment with design and prototype development
