    Job Description

    MSK has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant General Counsel to join our Legal team. As the Assistant General Counsel you will be providing support to the litigation function and the corporate transactions practice of the MSKCC legal team.

    You will:

    • Offer legal services in areas such as medical malpractice, hospital/regulatory issues, outside legal counsel to ensure efficient and effective operations and quality service.
    • Lead the risk management program and hospital insurance program.
    • Provide legal advice and regulatory interpretation to staff on health related issues and perform transactional work.
    • Research and respond to complaints and legal issues.
    • Lead and investigate claims, represent MSK staff in various legal proceedings, oversee subpoenas, conduct legal research and medical research.
    • Lead credentialing information processing.
    • Oversee and present annual departmental risk management programs.
    • Participate in the management, training, and evaluation of staff.

    You are:

    • Capable of building strong relationships at every level
    • Able to work effectively in an environment that contains complex, sometimes contradictory information
    • Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
    • Adept at building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives and goals
    • Resilient in recovering from setbacks and skilled at finding detours around obstacles
    • Adept at learning quickly, applying insights from past efforts to new situations

    You have:

    • A Juris Doctorate - a minimum of 3-4 years experience post law school.
    • Direct experience in a clinical setting.
    • The ability to apply broad technical, clinical or professional knowledge and significant job-related experience to function as an internal consultant/researcher and/or assist in the managerial responsibility in a specialized functional unit of the organization.
