    Job Description

    We are: 
    A patient focused department that works to ensure all new patients are properly registered prior to their first MSK visit. Patient Access Coordinators also inform patients of their insurance benefits and explain MSK’s financial policies, assist patients who are in need of financial counseling and help with obtaining precertification for scheduled services.

    You will:

    • Inform patients of their insurance benefits and explain hospital financial policies
    • Provide financial counseling to patients with restrictive insurance who decide to continue treatment at MSKCC
    • Inform patients of any self pay responsibility for both hospital and physician services
    • Obtain precertification for scheduled services requiring insurance authorization
    • Review and input demographic, financial and insurance information into Center system
    • Review hospital financial policies, advise patient of potential self-pay responsibility and procedures that go along with this responsibility
    • Have the ability to work independently, handle difficult interactions and make recommendations for process improvements to management
