    Job Description

    We are:
    As one of the world's premier cancer centers, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is committed to the progressive control and cure of cancer through programs of patient care, research and education. As such, our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department plays a vital role in supporting that mission through the implementation of programs that continuously strive to exceed and set industry standards as well as enhance the safety culture. EHS is responsible for Fire and Life Safety, Emergency Management, Construction Safety, Hazardous Material and Waste Management, Laboratory Safety, Occupational Safety, Healthcare Safety, Environmental Compliance and Ergonomics. MSK is seeking a proven leader who can be part of a dynamic and growing organization.


    As a Regulatory Specialist, you will:

    • Maintain close collaborative relationship between Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and each Facilities Management Department, Office of General Counsel, MSK Leadership, and Subject-Matter Experts to ensure timely review and follow up of all EHS and Facilities violations.
    • Lead Root Cause Analyses of identified violations to prevent recurrence.
    • Generate metrics and reports showing trends and accountability related to violations.
    • Participate in projects and initiatives in close collaboration with EHS to proactively minimize future violations.

    You have:

    • A Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of progressively responsible experience, plus experience in the development and facilitation of improvement projects of at least moderate complexity.
    • Juris Doctor degree preferred.
    • Capability of working independently and as a team member to develop and implement programs with EHS staff and other MSK departments.
    • Skill in assessing and implementing EHS compliance programs and working with a diverse clientele.
    • Strong working knowledge of position requirements and demonstrated ability to organize, track, and prioritize work responsibilities and regulatory deadlines.
    • Demonstrated leadership indirectly supervising and motivating staff and developing performance measures to maximize productivity and work quality.
    • Highly service oriented with good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to develop and deliver concise documentation, presentations and trainings. Ability to organize and lead effective meetings.
    • Competency in the use of computers including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to develop complex MS Excel spreadsheets to track and organize multiple operational activities including the integration of multiple data sources; use of statistical calculations and formulas; and develop operational reports.
