Provides analysis, design, implementation and troubleshooting support for complex client server and desktop technology systems. Supports design, configuration, implementation and 3rd/4th level troubleshooting for a variety of client applications, network/domain and desktop operating systems (including WINTEL, Apple, LINUX/UNIX and possibly z/OS). Handles priority NT domain administration assignments, NOS/Application image integration and testing, software distribution support and critical special projects (such as specialized server set-up, application rollouts, etc). Interfaces with vendors, peer technical groups/staff and executive management.
Design, configuration, implementation and (troubleshooting) analysis of all standard NOS and desktop client platforms, inclusive of NT, NOVELL, Apple and LINUX.
Provide technical design, integration and support for deployed client technology applications, such as MS/Office, MS/Access, browser and thin-client (CITRIX) front-ends, security features (VPN, NT domain rights, etc.), clinical client/financial systems (DMS, OMS, SmartStream), support components (SMS, EA) and networking HW/SW components.
Utilizes knowledge of and/or experience with leading-edge technologies and internetworking components; works closely with all technical and client groups to ensure that the corporate client server applications are fully integrated across standard NOS/HW images.
Provides desktop network support for all standard protocols, components and designs, including TCP/IP, 10/100/1000 Mbps switches/connectors, AppleTalk and IPX/SPX.
Researches, designs and delivers client server technical solutions for specialized institutional initiatives, such as sendmail/relay services, EXCHANGE servers, WWW intranet applications and script/program utilities.
Provides support for acceptable levels of data and network security in compliance with emerging technology standards and specific industry (such as HIPAA, JCAHO, etc.) requirements.
Supports client and network technology service delivery inclusive of problems, moves/adds/changes, special requests (GigE, video, Eudora, wireless, etc.) and emerging technologies. Utilizes existing MSKCC problem and change management systems for tracking and reporting requirements.
Provides design, implementation and maintenance support for desktop technologies, client front-end applications, intranet/internet access and all related client technology/programming activities.
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Computer Science or equivalent experience/certifications
2-4 years experience in complex client server and internetworking environments. Requires expert knowledge of all major client NOS, applications and internetworking platforms/architectures inclusive of TCP/IP, WINTEL, Apple, LINUX/UNIX (possibly z/OS), Microsoft Office, SMS, Enterprise Administrator, MS/Access, SQL (relational) database technology and network/desktop hardware technologies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work directly with all levels of staff and management, inclusive of senior and executive management. Proven vendor management and negotiation skills.
