    Job Description

    The office of Research Outreach and Compliance is looking for a talented IACUC Protocol Manager to join their team. The IACUC Protocol Manager will work directly with the Manager, Research Compliance to ensure the humane care and use of animals in research, testing, and training through MSK's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. This position is charged with oversight of the electronic protocol management system of the IACUC, and must ensure full compliance with Institutional, State and Federal regulations and guidance regarding animals used in research as per PHS Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, U.S. Government Principles, Public Law 99-158, Animals in Research, Public Law 103-43, Plan for Use of Animals in Research, Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, 8th Edition, and the USDA Animal Welfare Act.

     

    You will:

    • Serve as Protocol Manager for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
    • Manage the protocol review program and the computerized protocol review database, along with other databases developed for IACUC Administration use (e.g., Tableau, FileMaker Pro; Semi-annual Compliance Application).
    • Assist Principal Investigators and their staff with protocol and systems related queries;
    • Process new protocols, yearly renewals, three-year renewals, and addenda;
    • Triage protocols for assignment to IACUC members for review;
    • Ensure proper grant associations and congruency;
    • Compile reports from the protocol review database;
    • Ensure that all policies and regulations are met, including but not limited to, providing supplemental biohazard and radioisotope information, tumor testing information (P&C forms), etc.
    • Develop and update the Protocol Review Forms and instructions, and other IACUC policy and procedure materials;
    • Develop and implement training materials and seminars to assist investigative staff and IACUC members in the use of the computerized protocol review database;
    • Vet vendor approvals upon request from Procurement
    • Maintain IACUC policy and procedure manuals, Pre-approved Technique (PAT) documents, and website material.

    You need:

    • Bachelor’s degree with 4-7 years of prior research, compliance, healthcare, or animal research experience
    • Master’s or Doctorate strongly preferred, along with Certified Professional IACUC Administrator (CPIA) #LI-SB1
