    Job Description

    The Compliance Specialist, Conflict of Interest (COI) works with the Compliance Manager and Director to prevent and detect non-compliance with various federal and state regulations and MSK policies.  The Compliance Analyst utilizes their strong interpersonal skills and judgment to address and respond to direct physician or industry inquiries.
    You Will: 
    • Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise in key COI regulations MSK policies and procedures. 
    • Conducts routine and ad-hoc audits within established timeframes, as directed by manager.
    • Performs regular audits to monitor workforce-member compliance with MSK policies
    • Act as a primary resource for Compliance department inquiries including intake, evaluation, and follow-up; Coordinates development and response of Compliance department recommendation for inquiries. 
    • Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise in key regulations and MSK policies and procedures. 
    • Receive, assess, and respond to ad-hoc inquiries (e.g., requests for advice, contract-related issues) to the Compliance department; document details of the call, caller’s request, and factors needed to determine response.  Prepare a summary of issues requiring additional review, such as reports of non-compliance, including relevant regulation or policy, for review with Compliance Manager to determine appropriate next steps.
    • Analyze requests related to compliance with MSK policies and manages documentation requirements for regulatory compliance.  Responsibilities include review and approval of certain regulated activities, performing quality assurance on Compliance department documentation and preparing data for internal presentations to key stakeholders and external regulatory reporting.
    • Analyze and approve requests that comply with applicable regulations and MSK policy judgment and expertise to determine if the request can be approved and escalates requests to Manager, as appropriate. 
    • Develops data for, and assists in, various Compliance-related quality-improvement initiatives.  Given the dynamic nature and scope of issues handled by the Compliance department, works as directed by the Compliance Manager or Director on other privacy-related projects as needed. 

    You Have: 

    •  A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree; Master's preferred
    • At least three years of experience in a healthcare setting
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify cause and resolve complex problems;
    • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to synthesize and present complex information.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and other external parties.
    • Proficiency in working in and maintaining an electronic compliance administration system (Huron Click COI), desired, but not required
    • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
    • Information management skills needed to work with basic database (e.g., Microsoft Access database), develop reports, identify trends, and present information to employees and management staff.  
    • Familiarity with and basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Access knowledge also preferred.
