    Job Description

    We are currently seeking a Scientific Research Manager for the Center for Mechanism-based Therapies (CMBT). You will work closely with the Co-Directors, Associate Directors, Chief of the Early Drug Development Service, and Director, Research Operations for the Collaborative Research Centers to coordinate scientific operations, draft and execute industrial grants, and help to develop and present the center’s scientific projects and mission to industry partners. 


    The Scientific Research Manager will support end-to-end grant activity of CMBT investigators by identifying opportunities for peer-reviewed and industry funding, locating suitable applicants, providing support with grant preparation and editing, producing timely submission of proposals, and ensuring timely and accurate follow-up, so as to ensure maximal external funding for researchers.


    You will:

    • Participate in scientific discussions related to the Research Center, and identify funding opportunities for large program project grants that could support multiple investigators and core facilities;
    • Create a strategy and coordinate the submission of grant applications;
    • Prepare the initial draft and provide scientific editing for large collaborative grant applications;
    • Be responsible for scientific implementation, coordination, and further development of assigned program grants;
    • Plan and manage scientific conferences, symposia, workshops, and retreats


    You need:

    • Doctorate degree with 2-4 years of research and grant writing experience
    • Preferably experience in the submission of federal grants; extensive editorial experience; and track record as a research scientist.
    • Broad scientific knowledge, especially in translational research and cancer biology, with strong written and verbal skills. Experience in management and program building.
    • Strong creativity and ability to talk with clinicians. Strong motivation to invest in the academic and scientific success of others. #
