Job Description

Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) – Neurology Consult Service


The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will collaborate with designated physicians and other healthcare team members to provide consultative care to an assigned caseload of patients with neurologic issues as part of the Neurology Service inpatient consultation team. The APP will perform new and follow up consultation visits and procedures, including lumbar punctures and accessing Ommaya reservoirs.

Qualifications needed for a PA candidate are:

  • Graduate from an accredited PA program
  • NCCPA certification
  • Active NYS license or be qualified for state licensure
  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience as a PA in Neurology or Neurosurgery strongly preferred
  • ACLS/BLS certification

Qualifications needed for an NP candidate are:

  • Current New York State (NYS) RN and NP licenses/registrations
  • Master’s degree in nursing, prescriptive privileges (or eligibility)
  • 3+ years of related clinical experience
  • Neurology or Neurosurgery experience is strongly preferred
  • Related National NP certification
  • ACLS/BLS certification

Hours: 10 hour days (Tuesday-Friday; 9am-7:30 pm); may include weekend rotation in the future
