Job Description

The Development Department is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support four to six gift officers and perform various administrative duties to contribute to the smooth operations of the Major Gifts team. Candidates who apply should have a strong interest in Development.


You Will:  

  • Process gift forms to ensure that donations are received appropriately
  • Draft documents including memos, correspondence, reports, and presentations, as required
  • Answer phones
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper files of relevant material
  • Assist Gift Officers with procurement processing
  • Schedule meetings, travel and catering for gift officers and donors
  • Manage a list of contacts for mailers and e-mail communications
  • Assist with mailings (mail merges, printing, etc.)
  • Order and maintain office supplies
  • Assist with occasional event planning and staffing

You Have:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma plus two years of administrative experience
  • Experience providing administrative support for multiple managers and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment preferred
  • The ability to communicate, explain, interpret, share and present information to employees, management, and clinical staff, as well as appropriate external contacts  
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good customer service skills
  • The ability to independently set priorities among several tasks simultaneously and meet established deadlines
  • The ability to organize and maintain all information for assigned tasks, including an organized filing system. The employee should be able to handle confidential materials and information with discretion and to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures within MSKCC
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills; proficiency in Microsoft Access and PowerPoint
