Job Description

Administrative Secretary to the Orthopaedic Surgery Service Chief, Dr. John Healey

 

We are:       

 

 The Orthopaedic Surgery Service is dedicated to the care of people with cancers arising in bones and soft tissue. We have a broad program involving world-class surgeons and therapeutic research specializing in non-invasive treatment.  Our ultimate goal is to improve outcomes for patients with bone cancers including, but not limited to osteosarcoma and Ewing’s sarcoma. Our research includes laboratory-based investigations to identify and test novel surgical treatment approaches to these cancers across various stages.  Our physicians work closely with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Together we strive to fight cancer and to minimize the physical symptoms of cancer so everyone under our care can spend their lives doing what matters most to them.

You Will:

  • Manage and maintain an academic and research oriented medical practice, provide administrative support to the Service Chief (SC) and the Orthopaedic service. You would also assist the Administrative Coordinator (AC)/Administrative Manager (AM) in support of the Service as necessary.
  • Perform various clerical and administrative duties, including but not limited to a strong focus in physician calendar management, recruitment/promotions, fellowships/observerships, organizing extensive travel arrangements, coordinating meetings, processing reimbursements, meeting minutes, and special projects to contribute to the smooth operations of the department.
  • Prepare/produce accurate documents including memos, correspondence, reports, presentations, and manuals as required. 
  • Complete required paperwork/communication tools for department.
  • Answer assigned phone lines and direct calls; use correct telephone techniques and procedures when receiving and making calls; cross-cover other lines as assigned.
  • Assist and participate in Service projects.
  • Use your strong customer service and multi-tasking abilities to support a practice by providing administrative support to the clinical and lab teams.
  • Cross-cover POA lines as needed.

 

You Have:

  • Bachelors degree preferred plus one year of experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong prioritization, attention to detail and organizational skills
