Job Description

As a Research Assistant you will assist in performing research activities in collaboration with internal/external personnel to complete science based projects. You will independently design, plan, and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement. The Senior Research Assistant will maintain a high level of expertise through familiarity with scientific literature and implement a quality assurance plan, as well as participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals.

 

You are:

  • Experienced in mammalian tissue culture and cell line derivation from primary tissue
  • Familiar with human cancer biology and general drug therapeutic principles

 

You will: 

 

  • Develop and maintain a cell line repository consisting of established and primary tissue-derived cell lines.
  • Perform and/or have experience in validative analyses of generated cell line models using next-generation sequencing and/or other molecule techniques.
  • Design and conduct drug panel screening on cell line models.
  • Maintain and manage an electronic inventory of cryopreserved established cancer cell line models using quality-control mechanisms and documentation.
  • Perform various tissue dissociation/processing techniques for generating cell lines from primary tissue.
  • Coordinate the retrieval and processing of clinically obtained tissue or body fluid specimens for research.
  • Ensure tissue culture equipment, culture media and related equipment and supplies are maintained and stocked.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the tissue culture room(s) and ensure compliance with established laboratory procedures and institutional guidelines.
  • Be involved in the processing of human normal and tumor tissue, blood, bone, and other body fluids for tissue culture.
  • Be involved in flow cytometric analysis of cell lines for various projects.
  • Be experienced in general molecular biology techniques including PCR, Western immunoblot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and ELISA.
  • Responds to and produces reports comprising of the requested statistics for the study as requested by the laboratory head and members of the research team.
  • Responsible for scheduling staff and ensuring timeliness of work; may contribute to the performance appraisal process; may direct technician/clinical staff in the conduct of lab experimentation including operation of lab equipment.
  • Develops proficiency testing and preparation of reports by following outlined technical procedures and monitors inventory.

You need:

  • Bachelors Degree in Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, etc.) with 5-7 years of work experience in a Biological Laboratory Environment or Masters Degree in Sciences with 3-5 years of relevant experience. #LI-SB1
