Job Description

We are currently seeking a Scientific Research Manager for the Center for Mechanism-based Therapies (CMBT) at MSK, a program that provides academic leadership for early phase clinical drug development at MSK. The incumbent will work closely with the Co-Directors, Associate Directors, and Chief of the Early Drug Development Service to review data from meetings, medical literature, and industry press releases to help identify 1) new emerging drug targets, 2) new technologies for addressing existing targets, 3) industry / biopharma companies that are potential partners for collaboration in the clinical development of their novel compounds. To help forge new collaborations, the incumbent will attend major cancer research conferences (ex.AACR, ASCO, AACR/NCI/EORTC) and identify potential drug candidates.


You Will:

  • Participate in scientific discussions related to the Research Center, and identify drug candidates for clinical development in the CMBT
  • Manage relationships with existing industry collaborators and create new ones
  • Assist in the continual review of early drug development activity at the center 
  • develop Letters of Intent, clinical protocols, and manuscripts in conjunction with the Principal Investigator; 
  • Handle initial triage of inquiries for industry regarding potential early phase partnerships
  • Prepare the initial draft and provide scientific editing for scientific presentations
  • Plan and manage scientific conferences, symposia, workshops, and retreats


You Have:

  • A Doctorate degree
  • Experience in industry or clinical research is encouraged
  • Experience in medical and grant writing also encouraged
  • Broad scientific knowledge, especially in translational research and cancer biology, with strong written and verbal skills
  • Experience in management and program building
  • Strong creativity and ability to talk with clinicians
  • Strong motivation to invest in the academic and scientific success of others
