Job Description

We are:

The Pharmacy Department utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, where the emphasis is on therapeutic efficacy and safety. We provide comprehensive, clinical and dispensing services in both inpatient and ambulatory care settings through a decentralized satellite pharmacy services model. The department has one of the most robust set of electronic clinical resources in the country and a dynamic medication safety program.

Across the Center we review 1.5 million orders per year and dispense over three million doses of medication annually. The Pharmacy Department has more than 400 employees with approximately 200 pharmacists servicing patients in 26 pharmacy satellites, including inpatient unit-based satellites in all oncological specialties.

Memorial Sloan Kettering provides live, onsite, accredited continuing education pharmacy courses to help keep your credentials up to date. The department will also sponsor national and state membership for pharmacy organizations and appropriate off-site educational meetings. We have openings for paid Pharmacy Internships, available to students who are eligible, or soon to be eligible, for a NY State Pharmacy Intern Permit. This is an exciting opportunity for students who are ready to grow their career with one of our nation’s premier organizations for the treatment and study of cancer.

You are:

  • Someone who readily takes action on challenges, without unnecessary planning.
  • Effective at handling and managing crises. 
  • Supportive of the open expression of diverse ideas and opinions.
  • Great at following through on commitments and able to act with a clear sense of ownership.
  • Known to deliver messages in a clear, compelling, and concise manner.
  • Capable of building and delivering solutions that meet customer expectations.
  • Someone who is capable of managing your studies alongside this internship commitment.

You will:

  • Receive training and experience across our decentralized Pharmacy Department. 
  • Experience a comprehensive exposure to pharmacy hospital operations.

You need:

  • A current NY State Intern permit. 
  • Previous experience in hospital settings (preferred) but not required.
  • To have proven your ability to manage your studies alongside other work and/or extra-curricular activities.

Hours of work:

  • Will work 9 – 15 hours per week. 
  • Hours will fall between 7am – 10pm and will be mostly weekends and evenings. 
  • You will be required to work holidays and must be available all year.  We cannot accommodate vacation requests for summer holidays etc.
